Our IW's- Meabh and Seamus
We dearly love our wolfhounds- they are our true companions. They can be goofy, exasperating, loving, stubborn- just like our kids! They each have their own personality, likes and dislikes.
As our companions, we want them to be as healthy as possible.
We feed our IW's a healthy kibble diet which is corn-free, soy-free and wheat-free. While we do not use any dietary supplements, we do feed our dogs raw beef liver and raw beef tripe. While Meabh was pregnant, we added flax seed to her diet for extra protien, and continue to add plain yogurt for her extra calcium needs. We like to feed 4Health (available at Tractor Supply), Taste of the Wild and Blue Buffalo brand dog foods.
Meabh and Seamus enjoy the best darn vet any pet could ever want- Dr. Arlon Graef in Taylor, TX!! Dr. Graef was both shocked and surprised at the sight of the day-old puppy- as long at one day old as an adult ferret!
The puppy weighed in at 1.8 lbs on 2-6-12. This puppy was bigger than Seamus at the shoulder the tender age of 15 months!

Meabh and Seamus at Austin Celtic Festival 2011
We try to take our wolfies to as many places as possible. So many people are awed by their great size and gentle temperament.
At left are Meabh (in back) and Seamus in November 2011.
Our Wolfhounds are more than pets- they are our companions in all areas. They are constantly "underfoot", always curious, and always faithful. They are indeed "people dogs" and companions in all respects. They are noble, intelligent and frankly just a dream to be around.

Aidan and the Stairs
Speaking of "curious" puppies... We were playing with Aidan after he had taken a bath when he was about 7 weeks old. He suddenly ran off towards the kitchen to his water bowl. We stayed in the living room, and after a few moments, began calling him back in to play some more- but to no avail. We searched for him for quite a while, until I happened to see a fuzzy little head sticking out into the hallway by the stairs. He had stuck his head through the wooden banniser rails! I smeared gobs and gobs of vaseline on both him and the railings. I thought for sure I was going to have to cut the railings of our 100+ year old house. Howe he did this, I will never know- but I figured if he could get his head in, we could get it out. After lots of careful tugging and turning- finally- PLOP!- out slid his head with no injury to him at all! Now, however, we had a very active, slippery, slimy, squirming puppy wriggling all over the place... time for another bath!
